Robin Wassailing - Christmas Greetings Card

£2.50

“Here we come a wassailing among the leaves to green”

Robins and wassailing go hand in hand. Meaning “good health”, it is the ancient tradition of blessing the orchards on twelfth night to ensure a good harvest. Cider was spilt on the base of the trees and bread soaked in cider was left hanging in the branches for the Robins - also known as the spirits of the Orchards - to ensure their protection.

This lovely little Robin is perfect to send to someone this festive season to wish them good health for winter and the new year.

A6 Greeting Card of an original watercolour painting. This is painted and printed on Recycled Card in my studio in West Yorkshire.
